Denver BUI Lawyer
Let Our Experienced Attorneys Help
Believe it or not, Boating Under the Influence (BUI) can be just as dangerous as driving under the influence (DUI). According to Colorado Revised Statutes § 33-13-108.1, which is listed in the Parks and Wildlife section, it is a misdemeanor for anyone to operate a vessel with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or more, or under the influence of any other controlled substance.
The sentences for a BUI are also very similar to a DUI, which includes jail time and fines depending on the circumstances of your BUI arrest. Our experienced Denver BUI lawyers can help offer you the legal advocacy you need to defend your rights against a BUI claim.

Penalties for BUI
For a 1st conviction, the penalty will be a mandatory jail sentence of at least 5 days, which can be extended up to 180 days. The court may also add a fine ranging from $100 to $1,000. Additionally, you will lose operating privileges for 3 months and may have to serve up to 96 hours of community service. If you are arrested for another BUI within 5 years of the last conviction, the repeat offense will lead to incarceration for 60 days to 1 year. Additionally, you could be sentenced to 60 to 120 hours of community service, up to 2 years of probation, a 1-year vessel-operation ban, and fines ranging from $500 to $5,000.
