Robbery Lawyer Denver

What is Robbery?

Colorado law defines the crime of robbery as using force, threats, or intimidation to knowingly take something of value directly from another person or in their presence. Robbery is always charged as a felony offense, and there are three different types of robbery recognized by state law:

  • Simple Robbery (Colorado 18-4-301 C.R.S.)
  • Aggravated Robbery (Colorado 18-4-302 C.R.S.)
  • Aggravated Robbery of Controlled Substances (Colorado 18-4-303 C.R.S.)

Simple robbery is escalated to an aggravated charge when a deadly weapon is used or threatened during the commission of the crime, or when the object of the crime was the theft of any type of controlled substance.
