Employment

Specialized DUI Training & Certifications

The National College for DUI Defense and the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (DUIDLA) are exclusive organizations that exist to educate and train the country's top DUI defense attorneys. As DUI laws become increasingly tougher, so does the need for educating and training attorneys on the highly specific and scientific area of DUI defense. Because of this need, these two organizations were formed.

The National College provides the only DUI certification program recognized by the ABA (American Bar Association). The National College offers regular training sessions on all aspects of defending DUI and other alcohol/drug-related driving offenses, as does DUIDLA.

Each year, the country's top DUI defense attorneys gather at Harvard for a training seminar on the latest legal concepts and DUI defense techniques. Rhidian Orr, senior partner and owner of the Orr Law Firm, is a sustaining member, state delegate, and faculty member of the National College. Rhidian is also a charter member and board member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association. All associate attorneys at the Orr Law Firm are also members of the National College and Founding Members of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association.

DUI Accreditation & Reputation

In order to keep its accreditation and reputation, the National College requires all members to complete a rigorous training schedule that includes:

  • Effective trial skills, including making opening statements and closing arguments
  • All aspects of breath and blood alcohol testing
  • Methods for attacking field sobriety tests and breathalyzer tests
  • Techniques for cross-examining police officers and prosecution experts
  • Development and use of defense expert witnesses
  • Anatomy, biology, chemistry, physiology, and toxicology as they relate to alcohol consumption

You should ensure that any DUI lawyer you hire belongs to the National College for DUI Defense and the DUI Defense Lawyers Association. The requirements for membership and vigorous CLE requirements ensure that only the most competent DUI defense attorneys are allowed admission. All of the attorneys at the Orr Law Firm belong to these elite groups and take defending your DUI case seriously.
