Rhidian D.W Orr

Rhidian Orr founded the Orr Law Firm in 2002 and remains its owner and senior partner. He received his B.A. from the University of Denver in 1994, his J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law in 2000, and his MBA from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business in 2002. He was admitted to practice law in Colorado in 2002 and in Minnesota in 2003. He is a graduate of Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College and Terry MacCarthy's Cross Examination training.

Mr. Orr has dedicated his entire practice to DUI and criminal traffic defense and, thus, is trained as a practitioner and instructor in standardized field sobriety tests in accordance with the standards set forth by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

He is also trained in the operation of the Intoxilyzer 9000, has trained extensively in Gas Chromatography, and is Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Overview certified. Due to his skill and experience, he was named a Super Lawyers® Rising Star in 2011 and 2012 and has been selected to Super Lawyers® every year since 2014.

Why Rhidian Focuses on DUI Defense

Rhidian did not plan to practice DUI defense. After he passed the bar and finished his MBA, a close friend was arrested for DUI, and a conviction would have cost that friend his career. Rhidian took the case, studied every DUI book and legal reference he could find, and prevailed. As he later told the National College for DUI Defense, "I helped a good person overcome a mistake." The case showed him how many people facing DUI charges were not as fortunate, and it is why he devoted his practice to DUI defense.

Awarded & Accomplished

Mr. Orr first earned an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell® in 2014 and holds the rating for 2024 and 2025, which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. The AV Preeminent® rating is the pinnacle of professional excellence earned through a strenuous peer review rating process.

He is a lifetime member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College and NORML. Rhidian is a former Colorado state delegate (2013-2014) and a Sustaining Member for the National College for DUI Defense. He is also a Faculty Member for the National College for DUI Defense and Trial Skills University. Adding to his resume, Mr. Orr is now a Charter Member and former Board Member for the DUI Defense Lawyers Association.

Teaching Other Lawyers

Rhidian is regularly invited to lecture at continuing legal education programs and DUI defense seminars across the country. In Colorado, he has taught DUI defense at the Colorado Public Defender's Conference, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and the University of Colorado Law School, and he helped create a DUI training program for Colorado's public defenders.
