DUI Suspect Tried to Disarm Officer, Police Say

"A man police say was trying to disarm a Denver officer who was citing him for driving under the influence was charged Tuesday.

Chase Vasic, 21, was charged with second-degree assault, criminal attempt to disarm a peace officer, and driving under the influence.

Last Wednesday, police say Vasic rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of 15th and Delgany streets in lower downtown.

According to police, Vasic became upset and combative, and tried to attack and disarm the responding officer after the officer noted evidence that Vasic had been drinking.

Vasic has been released from custody on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County court June 29."
